Taxus baccata

Taxus baccata is, in our opinion, the best yew species to grow a low-growing hedge from.

Taxus baccata - the evergreen species for lower hedges

At Roelands Boomkwekerijen BV, you can buy vines (Taxus baccata) in various lengths. This Taxus baccata is a very popular hedge species found in many gardens. The yew is ideal as a garden plant because it is easy to maintain and easy to keep in shape.

The yew belongs to the conifers and can be recognised by its deep green needles. If you prune the yew back every year, in principle no berries will grow on it. However, if you allow the yew to grow freely, red berries will eventually appear on the plant. These berries are toxic to humans, dogs and cats. However, birds can digest yew berries and therefore like to eat them.
